Runtar’s Diary is an in-character journal drawn from our long-running Dungeons & Dragons campaign.
We began playing on 20th May 2024, and, mostly every Monday since, we’ve been telling this story together. It’s now January 2026, and while a lot has already happened, this diary isn’t about retelling everything that came before.
The journey started with leaving the safety of the Grove and has already taken us on a long journey, we’ve saved villages and lost others, slain dragons, gods and a surprisingly sexy minotaur called Jonas, We’ve met a cow barman, and had more laughter than any end-of-the-world setting probably deserves. Those moments belong to the table.
From here on, this space is about what comes next.
These posts document Runtar Emberclaw’s journey going forward, written in his own voice as he tries to make sense of the Old World, his companions, and the fact that he was never meant to be a hero at all. They’re not full recaps or rule breakdowns, just one bard’s personal record of what he survives, what he learns, and what he doesn’t quite understand yet.
This is Runtar’s story, from this point onward.
